What to expect at your first Riverside Dental visit
First, you will need to fill out a few forms prior to your appointment time. It is encouraged to bring the completed forms with you or to arrive 15 minutes early to fill them out in the waiting room. One of our hygienists, Mary or Kristi, will invite you back to your room where she will create your digital chart.

If you do not have X-rays that are up to date, we will take a set of X-rays so we can properly diagnose any issues that cannot be seen visually. This allows doctors to check for cavities, infection, periodontal disease, unerupted (impacted) teeth, bone fractures, sinus issues, cysts, and even cancer. Your hygienist will also measure your gums to screen you for periodontal disease.

One of our dentists, Dr. Ellen Morris or Dr. Emily Steil, will review and discuss your x-rays and your dental and medical history. An oral exam will be performed to check your gums, teeth, existing restorations, and for signs of decay and oral cancer. If you have any oral health worries or fears, you can feel comfortable sharing them with Dr, Morris or Dr. Steil. Your comfort and trust is most important, so we encourage you to ask questions. Your teeth cleaning may be completed at your initial visit or you may be scheduled for a follow-up visit(s) to complete a more thorough deep cleaning depending on the condition of your teeth and gums.

Your dentist will discuss the comprehensive dental treatment plan she developed specifically for you. Your treatment plan is designed to prevent small issues from getting bigger and more expensive. Your treatment plan will address the problems that are bothering you now and may also identify others that could impact your long-term oral health. While your dentist will provide the expert guidance you deserve, you always have the final say in your treatment.

After you’ve talked with your dentist, one of our knowledgeable patient coordinators, Pam or Lisa, will answer any questions or concerns you might have, including available payment options such as CareCredit, how to maximize your insurance benefits, and scheduling your next visit. At this time, you will receive a copy of your dental treatment plan, which includes a price quote for your recommended treatments.

If you have any questions or if there is anything you don't understand, please call. We want to make sure you understand and feel comfortable with your recommended treatment. Our team will work with you on payment arrangements so cost is never a deterrent to doing what is best for you or your family.

Congratulations! You’re on your way to a healthier mouth!
